We have landed at the spectacular 1856 home of our good friend Jen Hedgecock in Augusta, Kentucky, situated on the banks of the Ohio River. We are located in the horse country of northeastern Kentucky. Today we paid our respects to Secretariat at his final resting place at Claiborne Farms. We also visited Woodford Reserve Distillery, producer of the offical Kentucky Derby Select sipping Bourbon. The tour was inspiring and ended with a traditional sampling of the goods. Wow. It has been a really fun day and Jen has been a delightful hostess. We are off in the morning for Virginia after taking the 2 car ferry across the river. This a beautiful part of the country and is on our list of places to visit again.
